Norsat Launches Family of Very Low Noise Amplifiers

High Definition, Bandwidth Intensive & Mission Critical Applications Demand Low Noise Amplifiers

Global IPTV Market to Grow 92.5% Per Annum Through 2011

dsl.jpgThe global market for IP-based television services is expected to grow at a compound annual rate of 92.5% over the next five years, according to a recent report by market research analyst, iSuppli Corp.

Worldwide subscriber totals will grow from 3.9 million in 2006 to 103 million in 2011, the report says, as competition heats up in the market for bundled voice, internet, and video entertainment services. IPTV subscription revenue will grow more than 40-fold over the same period, iSuppli predicts, from $960.5 million to $39.1 billion. [ more ›› ]

Cisco in Space

The U.S. military plans to send Cisco Systems into space, or at least its routing software.

Networking giant Cisco has been selected to provide IP routing software for a project headed by the U.S. Department of Defense that will deliver Internet communications through a satellite-based router. Satellite operator Intelsat will manage the three-year project. [ more ›› ]

Arctic military presence to grow this year

The Canadian Forces’ northern presence will grow this year, as the federal government puts a greater emphasis on asserting Canada’s sovereignty and preparing for emergencies in the Arctic, says the military’s northern commander.

The Canadian Forces plans to hire an additional 20 military and civilian staff this summer, as well as build a fourth floor atop its Yellowknife headquarters. It also wants to boost the number of Canadian Rangers serving the region. [ more ›› ]

Canadian Government Unveils Assertive New Telecom Deregulation Plan

Overruling decisions by the CRTC and a Parliamentary committee, Canada’s Conservative government announced a plan this week to largely deregulate the country’s telephone market, beginning on April 18.

Industry minister, Maxime Bernier, said that incumbent telecom providers like Telus and Bell Canada – which have traditionally been heavily regulated – will be able to set their own prices in local markets where wireless and cable phone services are also available. [ more ›› ]

Norsat Posts Q4 and FY 2006 Financials

(Vancouver, Canada) April 2nd, 2007 - Norsat International Inc. (TSX - NII.TO; OTC BB - NSATF.OB) today reported fourth quarter sales of $5.42 million, gross margins of 48%, and a net profit of $0.53 million, or $0.01 earning per share on a diluted basis. For the same period last year, the Company had reported sales of $4.72 million, gross margins of 32%, and a net loss of $2.08 million, or a loss per share of $0.05 on a diluted basis.”We turned a profit in the fourth quarter, both, by growing the top line and by rationalizing our cost structure.
