Norsat to Open Research and Development Facility in Korea

New facility to be located in major South Korean technology development centre

Vancouver, British Columbia – December 19th, 2007 – Norsat International Inc. (“Norsat”) (TSX: NII and OTC BB: NSATF), a leading provider of intelligent satellite solutions, today announced plans to open a research and development facility in South Korea. Scheduled to open by the first quarter of 2008, the new R&D facility will focus specifically on components for both the company’s Microwave Products and Satellite Systems business units.

“Extending our operations into Korea will facilitate our overall growth initiatives and accelerate our R&D efforts,” said Dr. Amiee Chan, president and CEO Norsat International Inc. “Norsat Korea will provide us with a cost-effective means for driving continued expansion of our product portfolio, and by establishing a local presence in Korea, we will be well positioned to successfully introduce our full suite of satellite products to a new and growing geographic market.”

Norsat’s R&D centre will be located in Daejeon Metropolitan City, which is South Korea’s fifth largest city and the home of Daedeok Science Town, a science park comprised of more than 230 research and educational institutions. With 18 universities, including the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), the Information and Communications University (ICU), and Chungnam National University (CNU), Daejeon boasts a highly qualified technical and research oriented labour force, which is growing by approximately 20,000 graduates per year.

Dr. Chan continued: “Daejeon is a city that has made significant effort to become a leading technology development centre – a natural fit for our new facility. We will be able to leverage the benefits of a well established R&D industry infrastructure and tap into a skilled and experienced employee base, keeping us ahead of the technology development curve.”

Norsat Secures United States Department of Defense IDIQ Contract

Company fills $500,000 in IDIQ task orders

Vancouver, British Columbia – December 17th, 2007 – Norsat International Inc. (“Norsat”) (TSX: NII and OTC BB: NSATF), a leading provider of intelligent satellite solutions, today announced that its U.S. subsidiary Norsat International (America) Inc. was awarded a $750,000 Indefinite Delivery/ Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract by the United States Department of Defense (DoD). The contract establishes terms under which the DoD can purchase Norsat’s portable satellite terminals as well as associated support and maintenance through March 2008. The company has fulfilled $500,000 in task orders in association with the IDIQ to provide the U.S. Army with satellite terminals, maintenance and support services.
“Winning this contract is an important milestone for Norsat, as it is our first IDIQ where we are the sole product and service provider, rather than a member of a consortium,” said Dr. Amiee Chan, president and CEO Norsat International Inc. “This serves as a testament to the technology leadership of our satellite terminals, and emphasizes our strengthening leadership position in the U.S. portable satellite terminal market. Establishing a contract vehicle makes it easier for customers to order products directly from Norsat, which has the effect of smoothing out our revenue throughout the year. We will continue to pursue further IDIQ opportunities as they arise.”
An IDIQ contract does not require the Government to make any purchases above a specified minimum over the life of the contract. While under the terms of Norsat’s IDIQ contract with the DOD there is no minimum purchase requirement, Norsat has fulfilled and delivered 67% of the total contract value to date.

Norsat Provides Satellite Terminal for Army-Navy Game

Vancouver, British Columbia – December 3, 2007 – Norsat International Inc. (TSX: NII and OTC BB: NSATF), a leading provider of intelligent satellite solutions, announced today that it provided a satellite terminal and associated support services to the United States Military Academy at West Point, for the Army-Navy football game held on December 1, 2007. This enabled the Academy to disseminate footage of the pre- and post-game events for the first time.

“So much of what goes on before and after the football game itself is what makes this event special, but previously no one had been able to experience that aspect unless they were in attendance,” said Major Thomas Bryant of the United States Military Academy at West Point. “Having used Norsat’s satellite terminals while deployed, I know they serve as an excellent tool for reaching a larger audience. In addition, there are many West Point graduates deployed throughout the world right now, so being able to keep them connected is a great morale builder.”

Norsat provided one of its NewsLink portable satellite terminals, a media-oriented version of the equipment the U.S. Military is currently using in the field. As Norsat’s terminals are already linked to the Military’s Digital Video and Imagery Distribution System, troops deployed all over the world, media outlets and the general public are able to access footage of interviews with players and see complete coverage of the pre- and post-game events. The clips are available at www.dvidshub.net.

“We are pleased to have participated in the Army-Navy Game festivities, as the U.S. Military is an important customer of Norsat,” said Dr. Amiee Chan, President and CEO, Norsat International Inc. “The game has a deep-rooted history in the military community, and the pre-game activities can carry as much significance as the game itself. We are glad we were able to provide footage of what otherwise would not have been captured.”

The Army-Navy Game, an annual college football game between the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York and the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland, is a more than century year old tradition. Always held the first Saturday of December, this year, the game was played at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland.
