More than 1,550 freight and passenger railroaders, transit agencies and supply companies came together for the 56th annual communications and signaling exhibition and Norsat’s Sinclair Division was also in attendance.
Railway Systems Suppliers Inc. put on a two-day exhibition that featured 193 exhibitors. The event officially kicked of on June 29th with RSSI 2016 Board of Director and President Michael Choat cutting the ribbon dressed in his conductors’ hat and coat and with an emphatic ‘all aboard.’
Attendees had the opportunity to network and compare notes about future opportunities. They also heard from prominent figures in the industry including a seminar put on by the Manual for Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). Discussion was focused around how updates and revisions are selected for the MUTCD and how this might affect attendees’ businesses’.
“The RSSI Exhibition offers an opportunity for all RSSI member companies to exhibit their products and services to their rail and transit customers,” Mike Drudy, RSSI Executive Director said.
While the rail industry may seem as though it’s loosing popularity, the future was clearly on display at this exhibition. Many tech companies are diversifying and finding ways to plug into a variety of segments including communication, monitoring, detection, as well as data analysis and security. While the future is still unclear, the C&S Exhibition is a hotbed for innovation.
