Sinclair Supports Quebec Partner, Production Electronique, at Radio Communications Show

The Association of Entrepreneurs in Radio Communication of Québec (AERCQ) gathered together on October 18, 2017 to put on the first Radio Communication Show in Boucherville, Quebec. Sinclair exhibited along side its Quebec partner, Production Electronique. It was a great opportunity to showcase Sinclair products to the Quebec market and provide local support to the dealers at the show. With AERCQ representing more than 51% of all radio communication entrepreneurs in Quebec, it was safe to say that the show was very well attended. Michel, Sinclair Sales Manager of Eastern Canada, enjoyed supporting Production Electronique at the show and would definitely attend again next year. A Good Impression at China Satellite 2017

On October 25-27, Norsat presented and exhibited for  at China Satellite 2017 in Beijing, China.

China Satellite is an annual trade show in Beijing that brings together decision-makers from Chinese regulatory bodies, scientists, and equipment providers. In its 19th year, China Satellite offers a full three day conference, technical workshops, keynote speeches, and round-table discussions. Norsat was invited to make a presentation during this event, where Douglas Chun, Norsat Microwave Sales Manager for Asia, presented on the topic of Communications on the Move. The turnout was great and the interest was overwhelming. Thank you to all those who had listened and engaged with Norsat’s presentation.

At the booth, Norsat featured the GLOBETrekker 2.0, ATOM series BUCs and SSPAs, and a range of the most popular LNBs for the Asian market. Norsat is a well-known LNB provider, but guests were happy to see the full product offering at the show which included BUCs, portable ground satellite terminals, and more.

The three day event was an excellent way to showcase Norsat’s full product line to the Asian market. Norsat staff returned home with rave reviews of the event and were excited to work on some new projects. Thank you China Satellite for allowing Norsat to participate in this amazing event!

MILCOM 2017: Military Communications, a Key Market for Norsat

Military communications has always been a key market for Norsat. Whether it is supplying reliable ground satellite terminals or providing customized SWaP satellite component designs, Norsat and military communications seem to work hand-in-hand. From October 23-25, 2017, Norsat exhibited at the MILCOM 2017 show in Baltimore, Maryland.

The three day conference and exhibition was themed “Military Communications and Innovation: Priorities for the Modern Warfight”.

Located in booth #1026, Norsat featured its GLOBETrekker 2.0 ground satellite terminal. This terminal is the world’s most intelligent fly-away satellite terminal and includes the easy-to-use LinkControl software for automatic satellite acquisition. Its compact and lightweight design makes it simple to maneuver and transport. Built to military specifications, the GLOBETrekker 2.0 is the tool operators rely on for mission critical communications anywhere on the planet.

As well, the new Ka-band satellite components were on display at Norsat’s booth. The 50 watt Ka ATOM block upconverter (BUC) and the 4-and 5-band low noise block downconverters (LNBs) offer a complete package for Ka-band. Norsat products and case studies were featured in the October issue of Satellite Market Briefs which was distributed at MILCOM. A new white paper is available for download! Written by Mike Macki of Sinclair Technologies, this white paper provides an overview of the basic types of cavity combiners. In order to understand how combiners operate, it is important to have an approximate idea of how cavities and transmission lines work.

The cavity combiner is an important tool for joining multiple signals onto a single path or for separating these signals onto individual paths. This paper will describe how resonant cavities are used to accomplish this.

Satellite Innovation Symposium: Discussions about the Future of the Industry

The 2017 Satellite Innovation Symposium was buzzing with great minds and thought-provoking ideas. Hosted at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California, the event brought together innovators and market experts in the satellite industry. The sessions were enlightening and ranged from “Ground-Based Ecosystems of the Future” to “Satellite Constellations – the New Roles of LEO & MEO”. The symposium included keynote speakers, Mark Dankberg, Chairman & CEO of ViaSat, and Greg Wyler, Founder and Executive Chairman of OneWeb. Overall, the sessions were very informative and extremely relevant to today’s satellite market.

On display at Norsat’s booth was the Journey Manpack satellite terminal, ATOM BUCs and SSPAs, and the newest addition to the LNB family, the 4- and 5- band LNBs. Though the attendees were mainly from the space industry, Norsat was well-prepared to represent the ground satellite equipment side of the industry. At the booth, the Journey Manpack was front and center, showcasing its ultra-portability and compact design. As well, visitors were interested in the ATOM BUCs and SSPAs as its SWaP features lends itself well to challenging and remote applications. Lastly, the new 4- and 5-band LNBs were praised for their versatility and adaptability to most systems. All products on display were well-received by attendees.

In conclusion, the 2017 Satellite Innovation Symposium was a great networking event! Both Norsat representatives, Daniel and Marcos, enjoyed their time at the Symposium and were able to network with major industry professionals. They appreciated that many key companies were at the Symposium and that the sessions were insightful and provided valuable information. Thank you to SatNews Publishers for putting on a great event!

Written by Mehdi Ardavan of Norsat International, this article explains how to determine the power density of a radiating parabolic reflector antenna in the far- and near-field regions to meet safety requirements. Located in London, DSEI attracts over 34,000 people including Defense Ministers, International Military and Armed Forces, key industry players, and private sector companies. Norsat participated at DSEI under the Canadian Pavilion in hall N4. It was four days of action-packed seminars, new technology, and unique exhibits. DSEI is a large and significant show representing the entire supply chain for defense and security.


Norsat Helps Feed Vancouver’s Homeless and Low-Income Families at UGM BBQ

The sun was shining and it was a great day at the Union Gospel Mission Annual Summer BBQ, Saturday, July 15th at Oppenheimer Park in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. Norsat was once again proud to be a corporate sponsor of this annual event that fed more than 5,000 meals to the downtown eastside residents who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, as well as low income families.

APCO International’s Annual Conference & Expo was hosted in Denver, Colorado and offered four days of educational sessions and amazing keynote speakers including General Keith Alexander, Colonel Jill Morgenthaler, and Scott O’Grady. There were over 100 educational sessions and nine session tracks including Emergency Preparedness, Response & Situational Awareness. Sinclair On-Board with Railway Interchange 2017

As a member of Railway Interchange, RSSI teamed up with two other associations, REMSA and RSI, to put together a bigger and better exhibition. AREMA also held its conference and seminars in conjunction with Railway Interchange. It was triple the size and triple the excitement that attracted all types of visitors from railroad, rail transit, and government. Railway Interchange is the largest combined railway exhibition and technical conference in North America with nearly 10,000 visitors from around the globe. This year the trade show was held in Indianapolis and kicked off on Sunday, September 17th.

Sinclair Technologies took part in the trade show with a wide range of railway antennas and filters on display. Sinclair’s USA sales team, Sal and Cyndi, took charge of the Sinclair booth answering lots of questions regarding industry-specific products and ways to prevent interference using RF filters. As well, Sinclair’s most well-known antenna for the rail industry, the Excaliber, have always been a popular item at this show. Over the years it has become the industry standard used by railway companies worldwide. Sinclair Technologies offers customized RF antenna and filter solutions for a multitude of rail systems.

The show was lively and grand with all major suppliers to the Rail industry present. Railway Interchange included both the signal and communication side of the Rail industry, which attracted a variety of visitors. It is a high-profile trade show for the Rail community and we were glad we could be on-board. We hope to see you again at RSSI C&S Exhibition in Omaha!
