Companies that report in USD have had their numbers converted to CAD using Bank of Canada’s average yearly rate depending on the company’s fiscal year. The list is generated based on 2016 net income and reflects best-of-class returns for companies from all over the province. The list includes a wide range of industries such as technology, resources, and banking.

The latest industry trends, challenges and questions within the Canadian public safety communications market were discussed at the recent APCO Canada Conference and Tradeshow held at Caesars in Windsor, Ontario, November 6-9. Leading experts, professional speakers and colleagues representing public-safety communications agencies across Canada where in attendance to take in the country’s premier industry event. Public Safety is one of the main reasons that Sinclair continues to work hard to make sure that we supply the best and most reliable RF antennas and filter products, and having the chance to listen to first responders and understand their needs is always very helpful.
Sinclair has been a long-time supporter of this event and this year was no different. Sinclair’s General Manager and Canadian sales team attended to talk about Sinclair latest developments and showcase our products that address the public safety arena. Sinclair had a plethora or products on display including a selection of our antennas, transmitter combiners, filters and multicouplers. Stay tuned for some exciting news in the coming months.
Conversations about programs, technology, new initiatives and the strategic direction of the public safety market in Canada were held with current customers, partners and new contacts. It was great to connect with many of our partners throughout this event and at the awards gala.
During the two-day conference there were educational sessions on topics such as Disaster Operations and the Communications Centre and Crisis Negotiations for Telecommunicators, as well as exceptional keynote speeches by two Canadian icons, Jennifer Botterill and Michael ‘Pinball’ Clemons.

Sinclair Technologies is revving up for an eventful and busy 2018. But first, the team had to review what went well and areas of improvement at this year’s internal sales conference. A variety of topics were discussed at the sales conference and as a team, a plan was built for a bigger and brighter 2018. The Sinclair product marketing team revealed the upcoming product road map which was filled with many new and exciting products to be launched over the next few years. The three day internal sales conference featured updates from engineering, product marketing, quality, marketing communications, and more. The excitement is building and the Sinclair team is working hard to make 2018 the best year yet!
In celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Norsat and Sinclair joined organizations across the nation for the Dress for the Cause fundraiser. Dress for the Cause and the Breast Cancer Society of Canada raise money for the research into the detection, prevention, treatment and cure of breast cancer. To date, the Dress for a cause event in Canada has successfully raised over $7 million for Canadian breast cancer research.
To collect donations, Norsat hosted a delicious pancake breakfast complete with eggs, sausage, fresh fruit, and juice. Norsat’s CEO graciously offered to match all employee contributions.
Norsat’s Sinclair division in Aurora posted ribbons on their office walls, dressed up in their bra stickers and did a parade through the office and warehouse to gather donations, and promote awareness of this worthy cause.
Norsat’s two divisions, along with the corporate match from the Norsat Foundation raised $3,380.

The Association of Entrepreneurs in Radio Communication of Québec (AERCQ) gathered together on October 18, 2017 to put on the first Radio Communication Show in Boucherville, Quebec. Sinclair exhibited along side its Quebec partner, Production Electronique. It was a great opportunity to showcase Sinclair products to the Quebec market and provide local support to the dealers at the show. With AERCQ representing more than 51% of all radio communication entrepreneurs in Quebec, it was safe to say that the show was very well attended. Michel, Sinclair Sales Manager of Eastern Canada, enjoyed supporting Production Electronique at the show and would definitely attend again next year. On October 25-27, Norsat presented and exhibited for at China Satellite 2017 in Beijing, China.
China Satellite is an annual trade show in Beijing that brings together decision-makers from Chinese regulatory bodies, scientists, and equipment providers. In its 19th year, China Satellite offers a full three day conference, technical workshops, keynote speeches, and round-table discussions. Norsat was invited to make a presentation during this event, where Douglas Chun, Norsat Microwave Sales Manager for Asia, presented on the topic of Communications on the Move. The turnout was great and the interest was overwhelming. Thank you to all those who had listened and engaged with Norsat’s presentation.
At the booth, Norsat featured the GLOBETrekker 2.0, ATOM series BUCs and SSPAs, and a range of the most popular LNBs for the Asian market. Norsat is a well-known LNB provider, but guests were happy to see the full product offering at the show which included BUCs, portable ground satellite terminals, and more.
The three day event was an excellent way to showcase Norsat’s full product line to the Asian market. Norsat staff returned home with rave reviews of the event and were excited to work on some new projects. Thank you China Satellite for allowing Norsat to participate in this amazing event!
