Sinclair Co-Exhibits With Partner, Kyodo, at PMR Expo

Sinclair Technologies works closely with its partners and distributors all over the world. Sinclair and Kyodo co-exhibited at the 2017 PMR Expo which ran from Nov 28 – 30 in Cologne, Germany. The PMR Expo is the leading European trade fair for Professional Mobile Radio and Control Rooms. The international trade show was complemented by an extensive conference and special presentations. This event was the first time Sinclair has attended PMR Expo and it was a great experience!

With over 225 exhibitors and 4300 visitors, the PMR Expo was an exciting place to be. At the booth, Sinclair featured its best-selling items including its excalibur, yagi, and whip antennas. Also on display were Sinclair’s multicouplers and filter products. Kyodo showcased its Llumblau system for emergency services at the show. The show had a consistent stream of visitors representing European, Middle Eastern, and Australiasian markets. There was also a two-day PMR Expo Career Program for students and young professionals looking to get into the PMR sector.

Overall, the trade show had a great turnout and Sinclair was happy to support its partner, Kyodo. Sinclair is an international brand, selling product from all over the world. Thank you to those who stopped by the Sinclair-Kyodo booth and a special thank you to Kyodo for inviting Sinclair to co-exhibit!

Sinclair Sales Conference 2017: Reviewing the Year and Planning for the Future

Sinclair Technologies is revving up for an eventful and busy 2018. But first, the team had to review what went well and areas of improvement at this year’s internal sales conference. A variety of topics were discussed at the sales conference and as a team, a plan was built for a bigger and brighter 2018. The Sinclair product marketing team revealed the upcoming product road map which was filled with many new and exciting products to be launched over the next few years. The three day internal sales conference featured updates from engineering, product marketing, quality, marketing communications, and more. The excitement is building and the Sinclair team is working hard to make 2018 the best year yet!

Sinclair Supports Quebec Partner, Production Electronique, at Radio Communications Show

The Association of Entrepreneurs in Radio Communication of Québec (AERCQ) gathered together on October 18, 2017 to put on the first Radio Communication Show in Boucherville, Quebec. Sinclair exhibited along side its Quebec partner, Production Electronique. It was a great opportunity to showcase Sinclair products to the Quebec market and provide local support to the dealers at the show. With AERCQ representing more than 51% of all radio communication entrepreneurs in Quebec, it was safe to say that the show was very well attended. Michel, Sinclair Sales Manager of Eastern Canada, enjoyed supporting Production Electronique at the show and would definitely attend again next year. Thanks Production Electronique for inviting us to the show!

APCO International 2017: Bringing the Public Safety Industry Together

APCO International’s Annual Conference & Expo was hosted in Denver, Colorado and offered four days of educational sessions and amazing keynote speakers including General Keith Alexander, Colonel Jill Morgenthaler, and Scott O’Grady. There were over 100 educational sessions and nine session tracks including Emergency Preparedness, Response & Situational Awareness. NG9-1-1 & Emerging Technologies, Communications Center Management, and Industry Products & Tools. Attendees from all over the world participated in the conference and expo where more than 70% of the attendees had over ten years of experience in the public safety sector. The event was mainly attended by communication officers and managers of Police, Fire, and EMT personnel for state and local public safety entities. The turnout was great and provided a good mix of visitors. It was fantastic to meet new faces as well as reconnect with existing customers such as the Denver School District, Montana Highway Patrol, City of LA, and San Lusipi County. Thank you for coming by the Sinclair booth!

     

The products that were showcased at APCO 2017 were the SM701 series of multi-functional transport antennas and the ST221 Excalibur series of low profile VHF antennas. The SM701 is the newest product series from Sinclair. It was specifically designed to address the need for compact, low-profile, broadband antennas used in harsh environments. The SM701 delivers excellent performance on either metallic or non-metallic vehicle rooftops. On the other hand, the Excalibur ST221 is a tried-and-true Sinclair product making it a customer favourite! The ST221 is designed for a wide range of mobile transportation applications such as trains, police cars, emergency vehicles, buses, and trucks. The rugged cast aluminum design ensures consistent dependable performance and has a relatively inconspicuous appearance which is resistant to damage. These two feature products were very well-received by visitors.

Overall the APCO Conference & Expo was a hit! There were lots of business cards being exchanged and many badges being scanned. The public safety industry is a major customer for Sinclair making this show a critical trade show on Sinclair’s trade show circuit. It was also great to see everyone out-and-about participating in the event’s activities and showcases.Thanks to APCO International for the fantastic show and we hope to see everyone there again next year!

Celebrating 40 Years at Norsat

2017 is a significant year for Norsat as it marks the 40th anniversary of Norsat as a successful business! On Thursday August 10, Norsat celebrated this major milestone with a beautiful afternoon boat cruise around downtown Vancouver. The head office staff in Vancouver were all invited to an afternoon of food and drinks on the two-level Magic Moments yacht charter. As the Norsat team set sail from the False Creek waters into the Burrard Inlet, everyone was all smiles and ready to celebrate in style. The staff were able to relax, enjoy themselves on the boat, eat amazing appetizers, and drink refreshing beverages. It was a team bonding event that would not be forgotten. The yacht sailed along Stanley Park which offered amazing views of the Lion’s Gate bridge where some people even spotted sea lions in the water! The yacht stopped along Coal Harbour so that everyone could snap pictures in front of Canada Place – a view which is even more beautiful from the water. The staff saw views of North Vancouver and West Vancouver before heading back to False Creek. A special 40th anniversary cake was ordered for this event and a champagne toast was made. It was truly a magical celebration which made everyone excited for the years to come. Thank you to the excellent boat staff and everyone who came out to the celebration! It was an afternoon to thank those who have helped Norsat get to where it is today. Happy 40th Anniversary Norsat!

Norsat Helps Feed Vancouver’s Homeless and Low-Income Families at UGM BBQ

The sun was shining and it was a great day at the Union Gospel Mission Annual Summer BBQ, Saturday, July 15th at Oppenheimer Park in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. Norsat was once again proud to be a corporate sponsor of this annual event that fed more than 5,000 meals to the downtown eastside residents who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, as well as low income families.

Attendees feasted on a sizzling summer BBQ including burgers, smokies, coleslaw, macaroni salad, a pop and even a cool treat at the end! Residents could also participate in face painting, bouncy castles and mini-carnival games, providing hours of entertainment and a much-needed moment of rest and relaxation for some who don’t get to celebrate the fun of summer.

Studies show the child poverty rate in the Downtown Eastside is a staggering 64%. Norsat was happy that they could join title sponsor Roger’s Sugar Vancouver to help host the biggest UGM event of the year. Thank you to the Norsat team and the other corporate sponsors that volunteered throughout the day to help prepare and serve meals.

This photo was taken at Mount Decoli at 8200 feet, near Haines Junction in Yukon, Canada. This application is very demanding as the equipment is installed at a very high altitude. Thank you to the Yukon Amateur Radio Association for entering such a beautiful photo!

Sinclair Actively Supports USA Distribution Partner, Talley

It’s clear that Sinclair Technologies have been keeping themselves busy attending trade show after trade show…after trade show. Last week, Sinclair participated at the Talley Atlanta Open House and this week they had a technical seminar at the Talley – Phoenix location! Talley is a fantastic partner of Sinclair’s and it was great to be able to participate in these awesome events.

The Talley Atlanta Open House was filled with different vendors from all over the communications industry. The tented outdoor event included 24 key industry exhibitors, three industry-leading presentations, food, drinks, music, and hourly raffle prizes. More than 100 people attended the show which was a great turnout for the first Open House at the Atlanta location. The agenda included a welcome speed from Mark Talley, the President of Talley and Jill Sweeney, VP of LMR sales. Cyndi, Sinclair’s Western Sales Manager, exhibited at the show showcasing the latest in antenna and RF filter technology. It was a well-organized and interactive networking event!

The Sinclair Technologies & Times Microwave Technical Seminar was held on May 24, 2017. The free technical seminar was hosted at the Talley Phoenix office in their training room and ran from 8:30AM to 3:00PM. Sinclair’s Technical Sales Engineer, Jim Reville, put on an informative presentation on antenna basics, antenna types, new products, system design methodology and custom engineered systems. This seminar was shared with Times Microwave Systems who focused on cable basics, connectors, and testing products. Together, these top industry manufacturers put on an effective presentation with valuable information to a select group of industry professionals. Jim and Cyndi received all positive reviews from the seminar and are excited to see the material put to use. Thank you for attending the technical seminar!

Overall, the month of May consisted of a lot of travelling and networking for Sinclair. Our USA team has been busy this month with UTC, Talley Atlanta Open House and a Talley technical seminar. We do truly value our distributors and partners and we like to show our support to them whenever we can. So thanks to Talley for putting on two great events – we can’t wait to do them again next year!

Sinclair Employees Ride for a Cause

How much fun would it be to go on a bike ride with 29 of your closest friends and colleagues? Well the Sinclair Technologies staff can tell you – It’s a heart-pumping, cheer-thumping, crazy big, fun ride!

On Friday, May 12th, 29 Sinclair Technologies employees (a division of Norsat) participated in the Heart & Stroke Foundation’s Big Bike event in Aurora, Ontario.

What is Big Bike?

For 20 minutes, 29 riders power one Big Bike. On event day, you pedal through your community and celebrate your accomplishments. While you pedal, you literally stop traffic to support critical heart disease and stroke research. Participants included: Patty, Daniela, Aldo, Kayla, LOM, Corneliu, Stella, Noy, Ken, Ali, TJ, Liz, Franca, Petra, Thavone, Rag, Lilian, Rene, Ernie, Marselina, Boris, Crystal, Jennifer, Farid, Diego, Amy, Anthony, John, James

Fundraising is a key component of the event and the Sinclair staff collected $2,703 in donations. Along with Norsat’s corporate match the team raised $3,703! Congratulations to the Sinclair employees on a job well done. Money raised goes to critical life-saving heart disease and stroke research in hospitals and universities across Canada.

Amy Gesualdo, Sinclair’s event coordinator commented. “It was an incredible day of fun and great team bonding.  Events like this are wonderful, it really got everyone to come together and work towards a great cause.”
