Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated, energetic and very driven capture manager for this Maryland-based satellite communications company. This is an ideal role for someone seeking to build capture management experience, following several years of proposal development work with another satellite company.

The capture manager will be assigned to an opportunity once a company decides to pursue a lead. A major focus for the capture manager is to manage the transition from opportunity discovery to the proposal process where the opportunity is closed. The capture manager assigned will then oversee the opportunity pursuit through award, unless a decision is made to no-bid it somewhere along the line. The capture manager identifies the resources required to pursue a bid, establishes any infrastructures required, processes, and plans necessary, and manages their execution.

The capture manager will act as the proposal manager, serving as the primary technical resource. The manager will be assigned to work with a relationship manager and where required, product management and engineering, to create the proposal document.

Responsibilities:

  • The capture manager will conceive, seek “buy-in” for and then, implement bid strategies, pricing, teaming, and proposal strategies.
  • The capture manager is expected to serve as the lead in developing proposals.

Skills & Personal Attributes:

  • Strong technical aptitude and business acumen
  • Background in DoD contracts, project management, satellite communications engineering and proposal development.
  • Ability to develop winning responses to requests for quotes
  • Superb communication skills (oral, written and presentations).
  • Self-motivated, driven personality with leadership potential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish positive working relationships with engineering, operations and sales personnel.
  • Proven ability to work with customers to understand their needs in a SATCOM/IT environment
  • Outstanding work ethic, to do what it takes to get the job done
  • As the company grows, that the applicant will be called upon to travel approximately 25% of the time. Applicants willing and able to travel domestically and internationally will be preferred.

Education and Level of Overall Experience:

  • B. Eng., Bachelors of Science (Physics) or equivalent; MBA is an asset.
  • 15 years + relevant experience.
  • 5 years+ of experience in satellite communications.
  • 2 years+ in project management. Certifications will be considered an asset.
  • 5 years+ pursuing Department of Defense IT/communications.
  • Background with US Armed Forces considered an asset.
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience with any of the following will be considered an asset: IP, VSATs, INMARSAT, terrestrial microwave radios, terrestrial-trunked radios, and mobile base stations.

Other:

  • Applicant must be capable of obtaining a US Security Clearance.
  • Applicant must be a US Citizen.
