Norsat International, one of BC’s top 100 public companies¹, is looking for a recent graduate from a relevant graphic design or communications program to serve as a full time marketing communications specialist. This role is ideal for someone seeking an entry level full time position in corporate communications and / or demand generation. The position reports to Vice President, Marketing. The marketing communications specialist will work closely with product marketing and sales team.
Position Description:
The marketing communications specialist will serve as the brand champion within the company. He / she will eventually be responsible for spearheading the company’s brand development and corporate communications, both online and offline. Specifically, the specialist will develop sales materials, organize events, and execute various communication strategies targeted at prospects, customers, investment community, and media, as required.
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop a corporate communications strategy and a corresponding implementation plan, in conjunction with senior management team.
- Develop, maintain and continuously improve the website.
- Develop and execute strategies aimed at increasing Norsat’s web presence and search engine rankings.
- Develop website project plans and ongoing maintenance plans.
- Define ongoing requirements for the corporate websites by soliciting feedback; and performing independent research of competitor websites.
- Develop the content including coding the HTML pages, designing feedback forms tied to SQL databases, and providing secure logon areas.
- Measure website usability and hits to develop ongoing improvements
- Track, monitor and update Norsat’s profile on external websites.
- Develop corporate materials such as sales collateral, presentations, advertising, and signage to ensure a consistent brand image.
- Manage Norsat’s presence at trade shows and key events, as required.
- Assist with the preparation of financial reports, press releases, and news bulletins aimed at the investment and media communities.
- Write press releases or otherwise, coordinate its development.
- Analyze and report on the corporate ownership structure and trading activity.
- Assist with the preparation and dissemination of white papers and presentations.
- Conduct ongoing market analysis and competitive research initiatives to educate internal teams and to use as input to the company’s business plan and strategies
- Develop materials to accompany products. Provide technical writing assistance, if required.
Education:
University degree or equivalent. Communications or graphic design disciplines preferred.
Skills:
Strong written and oral communications skills. Familiarity with Canadian Press Style preferred
Strong working knowledge of design and publishing tools such as: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Acrobat, FrontPage 2000, DHTML, HTML, Javascript, ASP (VBScript), Server 7.
