Our subsidiary in Annapolis, MD is responsible for sales and technical support of our customers across North America and the world. We are currently looking for a satellite professional with strong technical, troubleshooting, and customer service abilities to join our Systems Support team as a Solutions Engineer. This position presents the opportunity to apply technical skills to a broad base of applications.

 

 

Summary:

 

Responsible for marketing, engineering, product development and program management activities associated with the Satellite Systems Business Unit. Will utilize your management skills by providing guidance of group activities in support of customers and development efforts. Performs personnel management including: day to day assignments, yearly reviews, training, and mentoring. Must be capable of motivating staff and creating opportunities for their staff to learn and grow in all aspects of the business. The Solutions Engineer is responsible for developing marketing leads, engineering solutions to satisfy the customer’s requirements, creating cost and technical proposals in response to RFQ’s (government and commercial), and working with product engineers in the implementation of the program requirements.

 

 

Expected Contributions:

  • Provide first level remote diagnostic and technical support for the various Satellite Systems Products.

  • SATCOM systems knowledge, including link budget calculations, Satcom parabolic antenna designs, antenna feed designs, and antenna testing techniques.

  • Familiar with various manufacturers’ equipment for satellite communications, including modems, LNA’s, HPA’s, routers, switches, up converters, down converters, etc.

  • RF System design providing built in test capability and signal distribution.

  • Capable of managing technical and cost functions on government and commercial contracts

  • Able to develop cost and technical proposals in response to customer specifications and Statement of Works(SOW)..

  • Manage the support group, including

    • Preparing departmental objectives,

    • Preparing departmental budgets,

    • Growing the customer support team to support the Satellite Systems business

  • Provide pre-sales support including responding to RFP’s and technical sales demonstrations.

  • Develop a program to train field specialists to support the products.

  • Produce and maintain documentation and training material for the Norsat satellite products that can be used effectively by Norsat’s customers.

  • Travel to customers’ facilities and designated field locations to understand needs, train and service products.

 

Education and Overall Level of Experience:

  • B. Eng., B. Sc, B. A. Sc or equivalent

  • MSEE or Project management certification a strong asset

  • 5 years in a customer resource management or leadership role

  • Knowledge of satellite communications

  • Network or system administration experience is an asset

  • Second language is an asset
