Product Assembly/Test Technologist

Our company headquarters in Richmond, BC is responsible for production, sales, and technical support for our customers. We are currently looking for a professional with strong electrical and mechanical skills to join our Production Team as a Product Assembly/Test Technologist.

Summary:

As a Product Assembly/Test Technologist, your duties will involve the manufacturing and testing of leading edge satellite products for military, government, and high-end commercial applications.

Responsibilities:
  • Working with production documentation like Bill of Materials (BOM’s), and CAD drawings.
  • Solder PCB assemblies with fine-pitch components to be integrated into sub-assemblies
  • Assembling mechanical and electrical assemblies and sub-assemblies of a satellite terminal.
  • Participating in delivering quality products on-time to our customers.
  • Maximizing and maintaining quality as per the latest production and test standard, and BOM.
  • Assisting in the transfer of designed products to manufacturing.
  • Creating and executing sub-assembly and system level tests.
  • Performing product verification testing of customer product before shipment.
  • Ability to lead a team of peers
  • Maintaining departmental test equipment and environment.
  • Maintaining records of solutions, set-ups and results.
  • Other important activities will include continuous improvement of products/processes through time and cost reduction.

Education and Level of Overall Experience:

  • Diploma/Degree in Electronics/Electrical Technology Program
  • Minimum of 3 year experience
  • Knowledge in production documentation and mechanical and electrical assemblies
  • Knowledge in electrical components and handling including ESD control
  • Knowledge in detailed assembly and integration procedures
  • Strong skills in the use and maintenance of computers and networking equipment
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Office programs
  • Knowledge in RF electronics including amplifiers, attenuators, mixers and filters
  • Strong English skills for technical writing of procedures
  • Appreciation of production systems including MRP, ECOs, Lean business principles and inventory transactions including cycle count to maintain inventory accuracy
  • Experience in LabView Program would be an asset
  • Technical training in mechanics and computer applications would be an asset.
  • Understanding of the Lean principles in manufacturing
