- Check that the LNB and feedhorn match the application and the receiver being used:
Is the frequency range correct?
Is the frequency stability correct?
Is the phase noise correct?
- If you do not know or are uncertain of any of these parameters, we recommend that you consult the receiver documentation or call your Norsat LNB representative.
- Check that the coaxial connection is tight and correct.
- REFLECTOR ANTENNA <- LNB <- FEED <- MODEM
- Check that the coaxial connector is clean and free from any corrosion. If there are signs of corrosion it is recommended that the LNB be replaced. When replacing the LNB be certain to seal against water using Norsat LNW-20 waterseal or equivalent.
- Check that the input to the feedhorn is sealed and water has not collected in the feed.
- Check that the feed is secured to the LNB using the screws provided with the LNB.
- Check that the “O” ring is installed between the LNB and the feedhorn flange to prevent water from getting into the input waveguide of the LNB.
- Check for water or moisture presence in the input waveguide of the LNB:
If there are signs of corrosion it is recommended that the LNB be replaced.
- For extended cable run, use Norsat LA30 in-line amplifiers.
- Check the condition of the coaxial cable:
- no breaks or cracks in the outside cover.
- no sharp bends.
- no pinch points or flattened sections.
- Ensure connection to the coaxial cable is correct and tight.
- Check that there is between +15 volts and +24 volts coming from the receiver to power the LNB.
CAUTION:
There are no user serviceable parts inside the LNB. Failed LNBs must be returned to the factory for testing.
Opening the LNB or any attempts to repair the LNB will void the LNB warranty.
