Sinclair Technologies took part in the UTC Telecom & Technology global conference in Palm Springs, California. Held between May 7th to 11th, the Utilities Technology Council created a favorable business, regulatory and technological environment for companies like Sinclair that own, manage or provide critical communications systems in support of their core business.
Sinclair Technologies is world renowned for manufacturing robust, reliable and customizable antennas designed to the highest caliber specification. Hence, a significant number of visitors stopped by to witness the innovations first hand. Some of the popular products featured were the YA custom designed systems, Collinear omni antennas, Aurora™ SC Series and specialized Systems Engineering Services.
The event as a whole, was an oasis of telecom-based utility education and training. ‘Security’ was one of the key themes at the event, since security underpins both Information Technology (IT) and Operations Technology (OT). The eight tracks at UTC 2018 provided a platform for industry thought leaders and subject experts to deliver up-to-date, important industry trends and information. These included – IT/OT, Distributed Energy Resources, Fiber, Joint Use & Broadband, Telecom for Grid Modernization, Policy & Advocacy, Networks For Work and Water & Gas.
The conference highlighted how utilities are now using the Internet of Things to improve the efficiency of their operations.. Utility poles are connected to the cloud, proving real-time data facilitating proactive pole repair and maintenance. There was also a discussion on usage of drones of trouble shooting areas. As the conference concluded, UTC predicted that by 2022, more than 80 percent of enterprise IoT projects will have an AI component, up from less than 10 percent today.
With tower space at a premium and frequency congestion on the increase, many global communications projects have turned into complex systems that demand high levels of isolation and interference protection. This is an area where some of Sinclair products specialize.
To offer total solutions to customers, Sinclair Technologies highlighted its custom designed antennas like the SM701 series with GPS and RF filter systems at the event. This demonstrated the constant endeavor to integrate our products with the latest technology.
This event hosted a great network of Information and Communications Technology professionals interested in not only keeping up with trends, but getting in front of the fast-paced opportunities ahead in the utility landscape. Sinclair Technologies looks forward to the upcoming show in Fort Worth, Texas next year!
