Based on 2014 Net Income, Norsat ranked 75 among some of the top BC companies on Business in Vancouver’s 100 Most Profitable List. Norsat saw a +21% increase in net income from 2013 to 2014.
Sectors ranging from technology, mining and retail to banking and forestry, topping the list again were Telus, along with several crown corporations such as BC Lotteries, BC Liquor Distribution and BC Hydro. But as reported in Business in Vancouver, a softening economy and a shifting business landscape could present some challenges for some of these top companies. Let’s wait and see what 2015 delivers.

Read an article in the Vancouver Sun where Norsat’s President and CEO, Dr. Amiee Chan, discussed biases that women face in the technology sector. Dr. Chan commented, “Because we don’t usually think of women in science and technology and we don’t think of women in leadership, a lot of people don’t end up choosing those roles as a career.” Recently Dr. Chan was a distinguished speaker for a local STEM event that celebrated women working in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
