Don’t make this very common mistake! Comparing datasheets may seem straightforward, but sometimes you are not comparing the same thing. This video offers tips about avoiding common misconceptions when choosing a low noise block downconverters (LNBs) for your application. The video also provides basic information about what an LNB is, and what it does. It is a great refresher for those who are already knowledgeable about LNBs. Watch this video and don’t make this silly mistake which will cost you time and money.

The Global SATCOM Power Amplifier Market Professional Survey Report was published in October 2017 and features leading amplifier manufacturers such as Norsat, Kratos, and L-3 Narda-MITEQ. The report offers a summary of the market from 2012 to 2016, and forecasts into 2022. It covers regions such as North America, China, Europe, Southeast Asia, Japan, and India.


Dress for the Cause Event Raises More than $3300

In celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Norsat joined organizations across the nation for the Dress for the Cause fundraiser. Dress for the Cause and the Breast Cancer Society of Canada raises money for research into the detection, prevention, treatment, and cure of breast cancer. MILCOM 2017: Military Communications, a Key Market for Norsat

Military communications has always been a key market for Norsat. From October 23-25, 2017, Norsat exhibited at the MILCOM 2017 show in Baltimore, Maryland.


A Good Impression at China Satellite 2017

On October 25-27, Norsat presented and exhibited at China Satellite 2017 in Beijing, China. In its 19th year, China Satellite offers a full three-day conference, technical workshops, keynote speeches, and round-table discussions. Norsat was invited to make a presentation during this event, where Douglas Chun, Norsat Microwave Sales Manager for Asia, presented on the topic of Communications-on-the-Move.


Satellite Innovation Symposium: Discussions about the Future of the Industry

The 2017 Satellite Innovation Symposium was buzzing with great minds and thought-provoking ideas. Hosted at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California, the event brought together innovators and market experts in the satellite industry. The sessions were enlightening and ranged from “Ground-Based Ecosystems of the Future” to “Satellite Constellations – the New Roles of LEO & MEO”. The symposium included keynote speakers, Mark Dankberg, Chairman & CEO of ViaSat, and Greg Wyler, Founder and Executive Chairman of OneWeb.

Microwaves & RF Article: Determining the Safe Distance from a Reflector Antenna

Written by Mehdi Ardavan of Norsat International, this article explains how to determine the power density of a radiating parabolic reflector antenna in the far- and near-field regions to meet safety requirements. It uses existing methods to estimate these parameters, which are then compared with industry standards, such as the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) OET Bulletin 65 or Health Canada’s Safety Code 6, to determine the safe distance. Read the full article on Microwaves & RF.

GLOBETrekker on Display at DSEI: The World’s Leading Defense & Security Event

Located in London, DSEI attracts over 34,000 people including Defense Ministers, International Military and Armed Forces, key industry players, and private sector companies. Norsat participated at DSEI under the Canadian Pavilion in hall N4. It was four days of action-packed seminars, new technology, and unique exhibits. DSEI is a large and significant show representing the entire supply chain for defense and security.


Norsat Helps Feed Vancouver’s Homeless and Low-Income Families at UGM BBQ

The sun was shining and it was a great day at the Union Gospel Mission Annual Summer BBQ, Saturday, July 15th at Oppenheimer Park in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. Norsat was once again proud to be a corporate sponsor of this annual event that fed more than 5,000 meals to the downtown eastside residents who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, as well as low income families.

The CommunicAsia exhibition started on the morning of Tuesday, May 23 and ran through to the evening of May 25. Norsat Launches New Ka-Band Products

Block Upconverter (BUC): ATOM Ka-Band 50W BUC

The ATOM Ka-band 50W Block Upconverter (BUC) is up to 20% smaller, 50% lighter, and 50% more energy efficient than industry alternatives. This high performance ATOM Ka-band 50W BUC is easily integrated into a variety of systems making them ideal for applications such as TWTA replacement, Satellite News Gathering, transportable VSAT, SATCOM on the Move, and Radar. The ATOM Ka-band 50W BUC provides up to 50W of saturated power (over 25W @Plin) in the most compact size in the market.

Low Noise Block (LNBs): 4- and 5-Band Ka-Band

An exciting addition to Norsat International’s Ka-band product solution, the 9000I4-4 and 9000I5-4 series of Low Noise Blocks (LNBs) extends Norsat’s existing single, dual, and triple band LNB offering with 4-band and 5-band options. Available in both internal and external reference model families, these product series cover bands from 17.2 GHz to 22.2 GHz. The 9000I4-4 and 9000I5-4 series of LNBs are packaged efficiently with a volume of 11.2 cubic inches and a weight of 550g. Satellite Show 2017 Recap

It was all smiles at the Satellite 2017 show in Washington, D.C. The three-day exhibition included over 350 companies from all over the world and is one of the most critical shows in the satellite industry.
