The latest industry trends, challenges and questions within the Canadian public safety communications market were discussed at the recent APCO Canada Conference and Tradeshow held at Caesars in Windsor, Ontario, November 6-9. Leading experts, professional speakers and colleagues representing public-safety communications agencies across Canada where in attendance to take in the country’s premier industry event. Public Safety is one of the main reasons that Sinclair continues to work hard to make sure that we supply the best and most reliable RF antennas and filter products, and having the chance to listen to first responders and understand their needs is always very helpful.

Sinclair has been a long-time supporter of this event and this year was no different. Sinclair’s General Manager and Canadian sales team attended to talk about Sinclair latest developments and showcase our products that address the public safety arena. Sinclair had a plethora or products on display including a selection of our antennas, transmitter combiners, filters and multicouplers. Stay tuned for some exciting news in the coming months.

Conversations about programs, technology, new initiatives and the strategic direction of the public safety market in Canada were held with current customers, partners and new contacts.  It was great to connect with many of our partners throughout this event and at the awards gala.

During the two-day conference there were educational sessions on topics such as Disaster Operations and the Communications Centre and Crisis Negotiations for Telecommunicators, as well as exceptional keynote speeches by two Canadian icons, Jennifer Botterill and Michael ‘Pinball’ Clemons.

If you didn’t get a chance to talk to one of our knowledgeable sales reps during the show, please contact us and our sales team will get back to you right away.

APCO International 2017: Bringing the Public Safety Industry Together

APCO International’s Annual Conference & Expo was hosted in Denver, Colorado and offered four days of educational sessions and amazing keynote speakers including General Keith Alexander, Colonel Jill Morgenthaler, and Scott O’Grady. There were over 100 educational sessions and nine session tracks including Emergency Preparedness, Response & Situational Awareness. NG9-1-1 & Emerging Technologies, Communications Center Management, and Industry Products & Tools. Attendees from all over the world participated in the conference and expo where more than 70% of the attendees had over ten years of experience in the public safety sector. The event was mainly attended by communication officers and managers of Police, Fire, and EMT personnel for state and local public safety entities. The turnout was great and provided a good mix of visitors. It was fantastic to meet new faces as well as reconnect with existing customers such as the Denver School District, Montana Highway Patrol, City of LA, and San Lusipi County. Thank you for coming by the Sinclair booth!

The products that were showcased at APCO 2017 were the SM701 series of multi-functional transport antennas and the ST221 Excalibur series of low profile VHF antennas. The SM701 is the newest product series from Sinclair. It was specifically designed to address the need for compact, low-profile, broadband antennas used in harsh environments. The SM701 delivers excellent performance on either metallic or non-metallic vehicle rooftops. On the other hand, the Excalibur ST221 is a tried-and-true Sinclair product making it a customer favourite! The ST221 is designed for a wide range of mobile transportation applications such as trains, police cars, emergency vehicles, buses, and trucks. The rugged cast aluminum design ensures consistent dependable performance and has a relatively inconspicuous appearance which is resistant to damage. These two feature products were very well-received by visitors.

Overall the APCO Conference & Expo was a hit! There were lots of business cards being exchanged and many badges being scanned. The public safety industry is a major customer for Sinclair making this show a critical trade show on Sinclair’s trade show circuit. It was also great to see everyone out-and-about participating in the event’s activities and showcases. Thanks to APCO International for the fantastic show and we hope to see everyone there again next year!

logoThe Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO), Canada, Inc. is a voluntary, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the enhancement of public safety communications. It serves the people who supply, install and operate the Emergency Communications Systems used around Canada from coast to coast.

The annual APCO Canada show held recently in Banff, Alberta is a show where key players from the Canadian Public Safety Sector gather annually to discuss their successes, concerns and action plans.

This is also the opportunity for manufacturers  and OEM’s to reach out and share information about their latest technologies.

Sinclair was pleased to feature the new SC251D VHF Dual Antenna that was the center piece of our display, along with the new wideband Yagi.  There was huge interest from potential users as this is a way to reduce tower loading, as well as achieve excellent port-to-port antenna isolation.

For more information on these products, as well as Sinclair’s other leading RF antennas and conditioning products go to www.sinctech.com

APCO 2016 kicked off the Opening General Session in Orlando with Derek Poarch, APCO Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) recognizing the first responders from Orlando for their response to the nightclub shooting in June.

APCO 2016 is the premiere event for public safety and you could see that with all the representatives and government officials in attendance like Harris and Motorola, as well as Talley, Tessco and Primus who are key distributors of Sinclair Technologies products.

APCO 2016 featured panel sessions that explored Next Generation 911, Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network, and the importance of having secure and reliable networks available for public safety professionals in emergency situations. On top of all the educational sessions, there were many other sessions to learn more and plenty of opportunities to network with companies from all over.

At the Sinclair booth, we featured our key public safety products like the SY406 Yagi directional antennas, ST321 Mobile omni antennas and MR256/ MR356 Mobile Duplexers. Our Sinclair sales team met with existing clients and had great success talking to prospective clients in public safety. If you would like more information on these products visit our online product catalog or contact our sales team.

We look forward to see you at APCO USA 2017!

The Critical Communications World conference has just wrapped in up in RAI Amsterdam and we would like to thank everyone who stopped by the Sinclair Technologies booth! Compared to last year, we felt that the show was much more successful.  The organizers reported a higher attendance and this seemed to be reflected in the increased foot traffic.

CCW2016Throughout the course of the show there were many people who stopped by the Sinclair booth and were quite interested in our antenna and RF conditioning products. Many of these prospects were predominately from Europe, Eastern Europe, Middle East, South Africa and Thailand. Attendees were excited about our latest product offerings with a couple past customers coming to the booth hoping to partner with Sinclair again on the next phase of their project.  This shows the long-term nature of the business especially with larger projects.

Some of the guests who visited the booth spoke about the long lead times with other companies. Sinclair is aware of this industry issue and has taken steps to reduce the lead times, so customers get their products faster. Another trend that we discussed at the show was systems that need to cover multiple bands with emergency services on one band and private operators on the other. Conversations were a plenty with discussions on opportunities for antennas and filtering systems from all over the region.

We had a great time visiting with prospects and customers and are looking forward to seeing everyone again next year.
