Summary:

Norsat is expanding its Engineering team!  Come join us during this exciting time!  As a RF Electrical Engineer within the versatile engineering team, you will act as a technical champion for our products.  You will play an integral role in designing new products/solutions and enhancing/maintaining our existing products, especially in the following areas:  RF circuits, synthesizer circuits, waveguide components and filters/RF component and system testing.  If you have extensive RF experience, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the design and manufacturing of BUCs (block upconverters) and SSPAs (solid state power amplifiers)
  • Customize and modify existing circuits
  • Participate in the design of RF power amplifiers, including layout and process/assembly techniques and issues
  • Convert requirements into conceptual designs and develop prototypes
  • Assist with product development
  • Provide guidance to manufacturers to ensure designs are implemented correctly
  • Troubleshoot design issues
  • Work with Operations/Production to resolve manufacturing problems
  • Provide technical analysis for proposal writing activities
  • Provide technical analysis to show designs meet requirements

Qualifications:

  • BSc in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in RF design
  • Rich experience designing RF components, especially power amplifiers, synthesizers and related circuitry
  • Good knowledge of EM theory
  • Design Experience for RF circuits for frequencies above 10GHz
  • Hands-on experience with schematic capture & PCB layout
  • Hands-on experience building, integrating and troubleshooting circuits
  • Hands-on experience testing RF circuits and components
  • Experience designing waveguide components and analog and digital circuitry
  • Experience designing for manufacturability
  • Thorough understanding of RF assembly processes
  • Experience with the following software:  ADS, EMPro, HFSS, Altium, Waspnet
  • Familiarity with Agile and Solid Works considered an asset

Compensation:

  • $80,000 to $100,000 depending on experience

Summary:

As the Quality Technician, you are responsible for the overall product conformance. As such you are to ensure that incoming and final product inspection are performed and meet the quality requirements. In addition, you are responsible for document control, support the configuration management (PLM) and the Material Review process.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop quality plans, inspection requirements for new customized products
  • Assist in the development of documentation and control systems for the QMS
  • Conduct internal quality audits on the QMS processes
  • Perform incoming, in-process and final product quality inspection
  • Conduct root cause analysis and corrective action
  • Identify product quality data trend and develop action plans
  • Manage ECO and the Material Review process
  • Manage test equipment calibration; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Good knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management System Requirements
  • Proficient in root cause analysis and corrective action
  • Knowledge in Configuration Management and PLM
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing techniques

Department: Accounting
Reports to: Divisional Controller
Position Type: Permanent, Full Time
Location: Richmond, BC

Summary:

The Accounts Receivable Specialist will be responsible for the full cycle Accounts Receivable (AR) in multiple currencies, managing customer credits and communicating with Norsat’s worldwide customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Process daily invoices for both Richmond, BC and/or Aurora ON locations
  • Investigate and resolve invoice posting or payment process issues
  • Process daily receipts, including cheques, wires and credit cards; and apply against customer accounts
  • Perform customer set up and customer accounts reconciliations on a timely basis
  • Review customers credit application, provide analysis and recommendations for credit approval
  • Carry out collection and reporting activities, including corresponding directly with customers according to specific deadlines and follow up with customers on past due accounts, credit holds, and releases
  • Address requests from Sales and Customer Services within the Company, as well as external customer inquiries in a timely manner
  • Responsible for various GL activities, such as entering cash receipts, month end journal entries, maintaining and reconciling AR sub-ledger
  • Assist in preparation of monthly and quarterly AR and revenue reporting packages
  • Perform other accounting duties as required

  • Experience in processing full cycle AR in a manufacturing environment is considered an asset

Position Type:
Temporary, Full-time, Three (3) Month Contract with possibility of becoming a permanent role
Location: Aurora, ON

Summary:

As a member of the production team you will be responsible for the fabrication of parts for the manufacturing of antenna and filter products.  This position requires a large range of skills and is responsible for but not limited to the list below:

Responsibilities:

  • The primary responsibility is welding of aluminum parts
  • Weld and/or braze aluminum parts and other metals.
  • Fabricate parts for antenna and filter systems.
  • Operate machine tools in the fabrication shop such as lathe, milling machine, band saw, bending equipment, etc.
  • Read and interpret assembly and fabrication blue prints to manufacture antenna and filter parts.
  • Able to use shop equipment as required with minimum supervision.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of college level welding courses or equivalent experience, preferably with aluminum welding
  • Completion of welding apprentice program or equivalent an asset
  • Able to read and interpret assembly and fabrication blue prints
  • Must be able to operate fabrication shop machinery

Summary:

In this role, strong candidate to lead the day to day demanding & production planning, material planning, purchasing, inventory control and warehouse activities. The successful candidate will work directly with the production, shipping, quality, engineering, customer service and sourcing to ensure on time deliver quality goods to customers. This is a fast-paced job with many variables in which you will be constantly reviewing and working with (internal and external) senior leadership team.

Responsibilities:

  • Mentor, supervise and manage the planning, purchasing and warehouse team
  • Develop and manage master demanding planning, production planning and material planning to:
    • Meet demands and manage expectations of internal teams and external customers
    • Optimize production resources (including material purchases) and adaptive delivery schedules
    • Minimize floor stock inventory based on part demand history and production forecasts
  • Lead production scheduling meetings for capacity and material review
  • Ensure all purchasing is in compliance with regulations and laws related to purchasing practices and in accordance with Norsat standard practices
  • Place purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of parts and components to meet production schedule
  • Evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, and on time delivery
  • Expedite outstanding purchase orders to ensure delivery requirements are met
  • Working closely with accounting team for any discrepancies or issues with use of GL codes, sales order fulfillment issues, invoicing, credit issuing and inventory adjustments
  • Responsible for creating and refining processes in monthly inventory cycle counting and year-end inventory counting
  • Responsible for coordinating the count of monthly inventory cycle counting and year-end inventory counting
  • Improve inventory accuracy including warehouse management, job kitting, and introduction of barcoding
  • Develop and refine ERP/MRP processes
  • Maintaining a well-organized, safe and clean warehouse for efficient operations
  • Identify, analyze, and manage potential and actual issues and risks, take corrective action by tackling day-to-day issues
  • Responsible for internal and external customer support for emergencies and Out of Services
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in supply chain/business
  • 5-7 years’ experience in production planning and inventory control preferred
  • 3+ years of supervision experience related to production planning and inventory control
  • Exposure to low volume / high mix and fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency or exposure to manufacturing ERP system (preferably MS Dynamics Navision’s – functions such as creating BOMs, routings, inventory control, MRP, and barcoding
  • Candidates working towards APICS CPIM certification will be an asset
  • Must have working knowledge of import/export regulations (e.g. Tariff Classification; Commercial Invoice, B13, etc.) and carrier management

Summary:

In this role, the technician will be responsible to install, maintain computer systems and networks aiming for the highest functionality.  The successful candidate must have thorough knowledge of computer software, hardware and a variety of internet applications, networks and operating systems.  The ideal candidate will also have great troubleshooting abilities and attention to detail.  The goal is to build and maintain updated and efficient computer systems and networks to optimize the role of technology for business sustainability.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices (routers, printers etc.)
  • Check computer hardware (HDD, mouses, keyboards etc.) to ensure functionality
  • Install and configure appropriate software and functions according to specifications
  • Develop and maintain local networks in ways that optimize performance
  • Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems
  • Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment
  • Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their work
  • Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, debugging etc.)
