Summary: This newly created position will be responsible for creating and executing a strategic channel sales plans to accomplish short, medium, and long-term revenue goals for Norsat’s Satellite business unit. With a focus on our parent company, Hytera Communications, the Channel Sales Manager will develop collateral, deliver training, identify champions, motivate and support the worldwide Hytera sales team to create new opportunities for satellite components, terminals, and satellite networks. This is an exciting new role within the company where the candidate will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the growth of Norsat.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide training, pricing and positioning support to Hytera channel partners
  • Providing accurate short- and long-term forecasts
  • Meeting quarterly and yearly sales and profitability targets
  • Leading the sale for large channel opportunities
  • Motivating the channel to keep Norsat “top of mind” and to prioritize Norsat
  • Tracking all sales activities relating to customers, pipeline and prospects

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the design and manufacturing of BUCs (block upconverters) and SSPAs (solid state power amplifiers)
  • Customize and modify existing circuits
  • Participate in the design of RF power amplifiers, including layout and process/assembly techniques and issues

Summary: As a SATCOM Application Engineer in the Sales Enablement Group you will report to the Chief Scientist. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team and support the sales team to provide technical solutions for our customers.  The solutions will include satellite networks, SATCOM terminals and microwave assemblies. You will play an integral role in ensuring that the Norsat solution meets the customer performance requirements. You will work closely with engineering to ensure solutions are realizable.

Summary: As a Quality Assurance Technician, you are responsible for verifying incoming goods and components meet stringent specifications. As such, you are to ensure test equipment follow proper metrology standards, test components for incoming quality, troubleshoot and analyze root cause for non-conformance, follow up with suppliers on corrective actions, and determine variability of incoming quality from batch to batch using statistical analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out product tests and thorough independent final inspection of finished assemblies to defined procedures, formally reporting all defects
  • Responsible for checking, progressing and collating accurate build and inspection records
  • Investigate any quality issues to identify root cause and raise appropriate corrective action paperwork and ensure issues are addressed and resolved

Summary: As an Electrical Engineer, you will perform electrical design and prototype assembly of the company’s products, including the production of supporting documentation for fabrication and assembly. You will also be responsible for sourcing components and generating BOMs (Bill of Materials) for assemblies.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide production/manufacturing support (troubleshooting production issues, problem reports/ECRs, NCRs, procedure updates, design updates due to component obsolescence, etc.)
  • Produce technical documentation for manufacturing needs (specifications, procedures, test plans/procedures, modification instructions, etc.)
  • Transform conceptual designs into detailed schematics, PCB layouts, fabrication and assembly drawings
  • Assemble, test and troubleshoot PCBA & electrical subsystems
  • Research, source and acquire OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) components
  • Interact with fabricators and suppliers of electrical parts to ensure quality and accuracy
  • Perform new design work and the detailing/completion of designs created by others

Qualifications:

  • B.A.Sc. in Electrical (or Mechatronics with strong electronics skills) required

  • Exposure to digital and analog electronic designs preferred

Summary: As a Junior Software Engineer, you will play an integral role on our multidisciplinary Engineering Team focused on developing both our ATOM™ series of BUC and SSPAs, and our line of portable satellite terminals (highly integrated with electrical/mechanical components) for broadcasters, disaster relief, and government applications. Your primary objective will be creating Monitor & Control software with an innovative GUI that aims to improve automation and ease-of-use.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze requirements from internal departments (Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Engineering, Production, etc.) and from external customers to generate Requirements Documents that govern the software being created.
• Analyze established requirements and research to design, enhance, and maintain:
o LinkControl Software in Microsoft .NET Framework (C# and C++)
o Automated Testing Software (C/C++) for high power RF amplifiers (BUCs and SSPAs)
o Microcontroller Firmware (C)
o Other new software programs or components as needed (various languages)
• Analyze established requirements to generate Test Procedure documents that ensure that all requirements are met.
• Execute Test Procedure documents as necessary
• Create customer-focused documentation for software systems.
• Work with Customer Service to support customers in the field by:
o Analyzing and diagnosing issues discovered in the field.

Summary:

As Quality Engineer, you will take ownership in identifying problems related to Quality, working with various teams to come to the resolution of the problems and supporting continuous improvement of product, processes and the quality management system. You will also address all areas of enterprise operations to achieve quality and operating objectives.

 Responsibilities:

  • Drive process and product improvements to reduce internal defects and external warranty;
  • Establish and maintain an effective quality report/matrix and database, manage the quality KPI, drive continuous improvement on quality index and manage/reduce the cost of poor quality;

  • Facilitate and promote problem-solving tools (the seven quality control tools, the seven management and planning tools, root cause analysis, Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA), 8D, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, FMEA, PPAP and other like models);
  • Identify quality-related training needs and direct training activities. Provide necessary training to all employee and promote quality awareness.
  • Measure and monitor customer satisfaction and take corrective action as appropriate. Manage and maintain customer scorecard to meet and exceed the customers’ expectations;
  • Develop, define and recommend quality policy and set objectives to meet business needs;
  • Support management reviews of the quality system to align the system to the business strategy;
  • Occasional domestic/international business travel;
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Quality Management or a similar technical discipline.
  • Have 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Be a hands-on self-starting team player and have the ability to read blueprints & Interpret GD&T on drawings.
  • Experience with Engineering Change, MRB, RCA/8D, FMEA, PPAP.
  • Working experience of ISO 9001 quality management systems, internal or external auditor experience is preferred.
  • Strong computer skills (including MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Visio, MS Outlook and ERP).
  • Experience in the telecommunication products industry is preferred.
  • Be able to work within and meet aggressive deadlines.
  • ASQ certification preferred.

  • Read assembly drawings and instructions
  • Assemble a variety of antennas and filters
  • Check in process quality of products as per the production standard
  • Perform testing of products
  • Solder/rework various components
  • Use of simple jigs, fixtures and hand tools

Location: Aurora, Ontario

Summary: We are looking for a highly motivated and energetic Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Aurora. The successful candidate will be responsible for the full product development cycle of new antenna and filter products (from product research to pre-production) for use primarily with base station systems, vehicles and handheld devices in public safety and mobile communications systems. In addition to short term deployment-driven tasks, you will have the opportunity to develop novel concepts and innovative new designs that satisfy long term product needs of the market and company.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop new antenna and RF filter products by studying customer requirements and regulations
  • Conduct all mechanical aspects of product development cycle including the conceptual design, DFMEA, FEA analysis, optimization, parts draft, assembly, test, product release, project technical report, material and cost report
  • Perform derivative product designs, product performance improvement and error correction
  • Explore new design technologies, enhance professional job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging manufacturing technologies and practices
  • Perform product improvement and cost reduction
  • Document engineering design by recording engineering design requirements, theory, simulation and test results, material and hours tracking, filling engineering design reports
  • Specify hardware and material to comply with product specifications, manufacturing requirements and target cost
  • Create or approve product drawings, release documents, specifications, customer manual, manufacturing assembly and test instructions
  • Provide engineering information and support other department to resolve technical problems
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

  • Proficiency in Solidworks with 3 years of industry experience, including experience with Reference geometry, Hole wizard, Pattern, Multi-configuration and design table, Swept boss, Assembly mates
  • Strong professional experience in mechanical design and product building for high volume and low-cost production
  • Knowledge of RF engineering fundamentals and principles
  • Solid understanding of fabrication/manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of drawing views and BOM, dimensioning and tolerance labeling
  • Hands-on skills utilizing test equipment such as vibration table and temperature chamber
  • Excellent technical writing skills
