Summary:
This newly created position will be responsible for creating and executing on strategic channel sales plans to accomplish short, medium, and long-term revenue goals for Norsat’s Satellite business unit. With a focus on our parent company, Hytera Communications, the Channel Sales Manager will develop collateral, deliver training, identify champions, motivate and support the worldwide Hytera sales team to create new opportunities for satellite components, terminals, and satellite networks. This is an exciting new role within the company where the candidate will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the growth of Norsat.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide training, pricing and positioning support to Hytera channel partners
  • Providing accurate short- and long-term forecasts
  • Meeting quarterly and yearly sales and profitability targets
  • Leading the sale of large channel opportunities
  • Motivating the channel to keep Norsat “top of mind” and to prioritize Norsat
  • Tracking all sales activities relating to customers, pipeline and prospects

Summary:

Norsat is expanding its Engineering team!  Come join us during this exciting time!  As a RF Electrical Engineer within the versatile engineering team, you will act as a technical champion for our products.  You will play an integral role in designing new products/solutions and enhancing/maintaining our existing products, especially in the following areas:  RF circuits, synthesizer circuits, waveguide components and filters/RF component and system testing.  If you have extensive RF experience, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the design and manufacturing of BUCs (block upconverters) and SSPAs (solid state power amplifiers)
  • Customize and modify existing circuits
  • Participate in the design of RF power amplifiers, including layout and process/assembly techniques and issues
  • Convert requirements into conceptual designs and develop prototypes
  • Assist with product development
  • Provide guidance to manufacturers to ensure designs are implemented correctly

Qualifications:

Summary:

As a Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineer, you will perform mechanical design and prototype assembly of the company’s products including the creation of all supporting documentation for fabrication and assembly of these parts and assemblies. You will also be responsible for sourcing components and generating BOMs for assemblies. Ideally, you will be able to design and test electronic circuits and corresponding firmware for microcontrollers.

 Responsibilities:

  • Transforming conceptual designs into detailed fabrication and assembly drawings.
  • Performing new design work and the detailing/completion of designs created by others.
  • Produce manufacturing documentation related to various parts and assemblies.  This includes fabrication drawings for labels, cables, waveguides, printed circuit boards, metal parts and plastic parts along with assembly drawings, material lists and revision control documentation.
  • Interact with fabricators and suppliers of mechanical and electrical parts to ensure parts are made to the prints and any revisions or clarifications resulting from this process are incorporated into the documentation.
  • Research suitable OEM components to be used in mechanical and electrical assemblies and on new processes to be used in fabrication of parts.
  • Creation of Engineering documents such as technical specifications, test plans, test procedures, assembly work instructions, test reports, etc.
  • Implement Engineering Change Orders and re-work procedures.
  • Manage custom-order/one-off projects (design & order parts, coordinate product assembly with production or assemble the project yourself, testing/quality control of the finished project)
  • Ideally, use the in-house machine shop (CNC Mill, Lathe, Bandsaw, Brake, etc.) to create prototypes when required.

 Qualifications:

  • B.A.Sc. (Mechanical Engineering), registration with APEGBC as an E.I.T.
  • 2 – 5 years of working experience
  • Knowledgeable in design rules and designing for the following processes and fabrication techniques: milling, turning, extruding, die-cutting & forming, broaching, sheet metal work, die casting, investment casting, plastic molding, rapid prototyping, chemical etching, metal plating & protective finishes, silk screening & label making, mechanical and electronic assembling.
  • Understanding and practical application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Proficient CAD user with an in-depth knowledge of AutoCAD and Solidworks
  • Able to maintain good relations with OEM vendors and representatives.
  • Knowledge in standard word processing, spread sheet and database programs and readily learn to use new packages and solve common problems with software and computer systems.
  • Good understanding of product structures and the hierarchy of fabrication and assembly.
  • Hands-on experience creating prototypes
  • Training or working knowledge of heat transfer modeling and heat sink design using Solidworks simulation an asset
  • Training in metrology an asset

Summary:

 As a Shipper/Receiver, you will be responsible for maintaining and coordinating the timely shipment of products from our warehouse to the customer. You will manage all aspects of filling and shipping orders daily with strict KPI for on time shipping.

Responsibilities:

 Manage traffic to/from US/International borders

  • Prepare daily released shipments, including inventory picking, label printing and packaging
  • Customs paperwork for importation/exportation of US/International shipments
  • Maintain and Prepare cross border shipments

Summary:

As the Staff Accountant, you will take ownership over a wide range of accounting responsibilities, from managing cash transactions, maintaining capital assets, to preparing project costing analysis and reconciling different GL accounts.  In addition, you will also have the opportunities to be involved in other ad hoc projects.

Some of your key responsibilities include:

  • Prepare journal entries and working papers in multiple currencies

Summary:

As a Supply Chain Specialist, you will be involved in the planning and coordination of the manufacturing and delivery of leading-edge satellite communications solutions for military, government, and high-end commercial applications within all of our Business Groups, including all aspects related to resource management, raw material ordering, forecast planning, and inventory control.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Optimize inventory level by using a combination of historical trending tools and future forecasting;
  • Manage supply chain to ensure the most cost-effective means of shipping goods while balancing tight schedules;
  • Manage inventory transactions to ensure an accurate accounting of inventory (cycle, quarter and year-end counts);
  • Create manufacturing orders (MO) to initiate internal product modifications to satisfy special orders in the microwave (MW) business;
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and contribute to the development of improved business processes, including time and cost reduction measures;
  • Maintain a safe working environment in the warehouse area; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Formal training in Production Inventory Management, Supply Chain Management and/or Logistics Management an asset;
  • 5+ years of experience working in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management for a multi-million dollar corporation;
  • Experienced in the handling creating and preparation of shipping documents for international/domestic shipping;
  • Knowledgeable of secure tariff rulings with Canada Customs and Revenue Agency;
  • Experience using an ERP/MRP system in a manufacturing environment, preferably Microsoft Dynamics NAV;
  • Experience using Replenishment Plus (DDMRP).

Summary:

As an Electrical Engineer, you will perform electrical design and prototype assembly of the company’s products, including the production of supporting documentation for fabrication and assembly. You will also be responsible for sourcing components and generating BOMs (Bill of Materials) for assemblies.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide production/manufacturing support (troubleshooting production issues, problem reports/ECRs, NCRs, procedure updates, design updates due to component obsolescence, etc.);
  • Produce technical documentation for manufacturing needs (specifications, procedures, test plans/procedures, modification instructions, etc.);
  • Transform conceptual designs into detailed schematics, PCB layouts, fabrication and assembly drawings;
  • Assemble, test and troubleshoot PCBA & electrical subsystems;
  • Research, source and acquire OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) components;
  • Interact with fabricators and suppliers of electrical parts to ensure quality and accuracy;
  • Perform new design work and the detailing/completion of designs created by others;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • B.A.Sc. in Electrical (or Mechatronics with strong electronics skills) required
  • Minimum 2 years of electrical engineering experience required in electronics design
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout experience
  • Relevant experience with Protel/Altium preferred
  • Exposure to digital and analog electronic designs preferred
  • Hands-on experience building, testing and troubleshooting electronic circuits
  • Hands-on experience with test equipment including signal analyzers, vector network analyzers, signal generators and oscilloscopes
  • Labview experience an asset
  • Knowledge of RF fundamentals and design an asset

Summary:

Sinclair Technologies, a division of Norsat International Inc. is looking for a highly motivated and energetic Antenna Design Engineer to join our Sinclair Division in Aurora, Ontario.  Preference will be given to candidates who have good communication skills, are team players, are able to focus on details and have a natural drive to details and accuracy.

As an Antenna Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of advanced array antennas for use primarily with base stations and vehicles in public safety, law enforcement and mobile communications systems. You will responsible for the design, modeling & analysis, fabrication, test and measurement of innovative array antennas. In addition to short term deployment driven tasks, you will have the opportunity to develop novel concepts and new designs that satisfy the long-term antenna needs of the company. You will work closely and communicate effectively with other members of the development team, including other antenna and mechanical engineers. You will demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, be self-motivated and a good team player, as well as, be able to work with minimum supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform computer-aided design and analysis of antennas
  • Provide antenna specifications, requirements and simulations
  • Provide support to senior antenna design engineers
  • Carry out microwave component and antenna prototype development and testing, both in the lab and in the field
  • Perform near and far-field testing of antennas in state-of-the-art facilities
  • Design antennas for novel and challenging applications in low band, VHF, UHF and 5G, mobile wireless communication systems

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience designing, simulating, analyzing and testing antennas
  • Experience designing passive microwave components used in beam-forming networks including couplers, hybrids, phase-shifters, transitions, etc.
  • Knowledge or experience in the design of phased arrays and radiating antenna elements (PCB antenna, wideband or multi-band elements, etc.)
  • Strong ability to use antenna EM modeling tools such as HFSS and CST.
  • Knowledge of latest technologies in antenna array design (5G MIMO, metamaterials, reconfigurable structures and materials, etc.) would be an asset
  • Hands-on experience in testing microwave components and/or antennas (VNA, antenna pattern measurement systems, etc.) would be an asset
  • Knowledge of and exposure to high-volume manufacturing would be an asset
  • Knowledge in Passive Intermodulation (PIM) and PIP is a significant asset
  • Eng / MSEE or equivalent, PhD would be an asset

Summary:

As a Manufacturing Engineer, your responsibilities include providing support to shop floor associated with safety, manufacturing process, quality methods, tooling, equipment, layout, space and capacity. Aggressively initiate new processes and methods that will improve safety, reduce product cost and/or improve product quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop processes, procedures, and workflows based on Sinclair’s manufacturing processes and workflows to improve efficiency, quality, safety and reduce costs, including but not limited to time studies, process review and root cause analysis and prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends based on labor, nonconformity and production data;
  • Lead the transition of new products from engineering development into pilot run and mass production;
  • Supervise process integration in NPI project launches and sustaining existing products, ensure seamless development and maintenance of core documentation (Costing, MFG-BOM, Work Instructions, Cycle Time, Process Failure modes and Effects Analysis, tooling/fixture/jig designing);
  • Review and update manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards and cost analysis systems to help promote efficient staff and facility utilization as a result of the change;
  • Conduct time study analysis on manufacturing processes in order to obtain the pertinent data to drive prioritized improvements;
  • Lead Process Failure modes and Effects Analysis and manufacturability analysis, recommend product changes/improvements to Design/Product Engineers, determine effectivity of changes and assure compliance to such. Observe/monitor new technologies, competitors, industry trends and report to management;
  • Assure that all quality requirements, engineering and testing standards are included in all work and/or working instructions, testing procedures and other documentations. Suggest improvements in product design to simplify manufacturing;
  • Evaluate engineering and manufacturing tolerances for design standardization and manufacturability;
  • Working closely with Engineering, Quality and Production to investigate root cause and come up with corrective actions and preventive actions for quality issues. Implement processes to drive site performance in safety, quality, and productivity to best in class driving out the “Cost of Poor Quality” continuously;
  • Refine and enhance processes by applying continuous improvement related to the manufacturability of products and processes.  Apply industrial engineering (work measurements, line balancing, human factors and plant layouts, etc.) and lean manufacturing techniques (problem solving tools [fishbone, 5-Why, 8-D], poke yoke, continuous and single piece flow, Kaizens, etc.) to assure optimization of floor space, equipment (assets), safety and resources, as related to the efficient production of quality products;
  • Coordinate and implement engineering changes;
  • Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and takes immediate corrective action as required;
  • Have knowledge and understanding of document control, design transfer, verification, validation, acceptance activity, to ensure that product, equipment, tools, processes, software, training and documentation meet requirements;
  • Be aware of and comply with the Quality Management System;
  • Support necessary personnel for internal, customer and third-party quality system audits;
  • Occasional business travel;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a Manufacturing/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent
  • 3-5 years Manufacturing/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering experience in a low volume, high-mix manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Good experience of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA/PFMEA) is an asset
  • Experience in lean manufacturing—Six Sigma or other related certifications or coursework a plus
  • Good knowledge of ERP software, BOM structures, routings, Engineering Change process and Non-conforming process
  • Strong computer skills (including AutoCAD/Solid Works – latest version, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Visio)
