Article: Norsat Gets The Wireless World Ready For 5g At CommunicAsia 2019
CommunicAsia is Asia’s key international Information and Communication Technology (ICT) trade event. Into its 30-year edition, the event consistently delivers a highly relevant show experience for ISPs, Satellite Operators, System Integrators, Mobile Operators amongst many others in Asia. Solutions for 5G, Smart Cities and Connected Devices/Vehicles, Narrow Band IoT were some of the highlights in 2019. This is an important tradeshow for Norsat as it consists of the largest display of SatComm solutions from across the globe. The show, together with concurrently held NXTAsia and BroadcastAsia, form ConnecTechAsia – Asia’s mega technology platform for communication, enterprise and broadcast technology and services. This year, Norsat interacted with a large base of customers, partners and distributors and showcased our newly launched 5G Interference Solutions, New GaN and GaAs ATOM block upconverters and WAYFARER series of ultra-portable commercial satellite terminals.
Norsat was present at the SatComm zone, a crucial part of CommunicAsia, that hosted Asia’s largest international congregation of satellite companies. Most visitors were interested in 5G and Norsat’s 5G Interference solutions. Many broadcasters operating in the c-band were interested in our 3200-BPF LNB that has an internal bandpass filter for mitigating interference signals. Booth visitors were also aware of the CBA (C-band Alliance) and were tracking the spectrum allocation policies not just in the United States, but all over the world. Norsat’s WAYFARER 0.9m was our ultra-portable satellite terminal solution showcased at CommunicAsia, ideal for commercial markets. We received a lot of enquiries about the WAYFARER Series from show attendees operating in broadcast, oil & gas, utilities industries. They features they appreciated the most were tool-free installation, low weight, rugged carbon fiber reflector and lightweight pedestal design.
CommunicAsia 2019 has established itself to be the must-attend event for satellite solution providers, operators, telecom operators, broadcasters and professionals. This year’s show witnessed an increase in traffic, with manufacturers, resellers, suppliers and partners visiting keen to learn about 5G. With the rollout of 5G infrastructure, the need of the hour is high-quality bandpass filters with broad passband, low insertion loss, steep skirts that roll off quickly, and high stopband rejection. Other major themes of the event were future utilization of IoT and LEO satellites.
